The Credit Valley Hospital and Trillium Health Centre is a newly merged hospital serving Mississauga, West Toronto and the surrounding communities. It is one of Ontario"s largest community-based academic health networks and has a teaching affiliation with the Mississauga Academy of Medicine at the University of Toronto Mississauga.

 



Key Qualifications:

  • BScN. preferred, with a min. 3 years recent experience in Cardiac ICU/CCU
  • BCLS and ACLS required
  • Demonstrated ability to set priorities in critical situations combined with effective conflict resolution and problem solving skills in a clinical setting
  • Experience as a patient advocate is a definite asset
  • Strong team mentorship skills combined with the ability to work as part of a team focused environment
  • Good attendance and work record is essential

Position Summary:

  • Manages the care of stable & unstable, critically ill patients and is responsible for extensive hemodynamic monitoring following established guidelines
  • Administers treatments as prescribed by physician, i.e. I.V. push restricted drugs, contrast media injection, restricted intravenous medication infusions
  • Maintains defibrillation certification in order to respond in an emergency situation
  • Assists physicians with various diagnostic & interventional procedures, i.e. arterial cannulation, line insertion, angiography, PCI, rotoblation, electrophysiology studies, ablation, temporary pacemakers, permanent pacemaker, ICD, cardioversion, and intra-vascular ultrasound all done under fluoroscopy and with cinematography
  • Thinks critically, changes and adapts quickly and sets appropriate priorities and interventions in emergency situations
  • Acts as a patient advocate and contributes to the smooth functioning of the cardiac program while working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary and care team members to assess, plan, treat and evaluate the individualized care plans for the cardiac and critically ill patient
