Position Summary:
As a member of dynamic interdisciplinary teams of professionals, your expertise in this field will enable you to be directly involved in the strategic management of disabilities, healthy workplace strategies as well as act as a coach, and mentor to management and staff regarding health related issues at both Trillium Health Centre and Credit Valley Hospital.
Key Qualifications:
• Registered in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Member of OOHNA
• Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing with DOHN (C) and CRSP credentials preferred
• Minimum 3 years experience as an occupational health nurse, with current First Aid and BCLS
• Proven skills in the provision of counselling services to employees
• Comprehensive knowledge of Worker"s Safety and Insurance & Human Rights Legislation
• Comprehensive working knowledge of infection control practices and Health Surveillance and overall delivery of occupational health services
• Ability to communicate with various levels of management, staff and union representatives
• Ability to facilitate and lead group discussions
• Ability to liaise with external agencies, partners and other organizations
• Ability to develop and analyze relevant occupational health & safety reports
• Strong computer skills with working knowledge of various software including Parklane, and Microsoft Office
• As part of a dynamic team of professionals must be flexible team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Must be able to work at both hospitals
Responsibilities:
• Act as the Occupational Health point person for the communicable diseases program in collaboration with the Infection Control Team
• Provide primary care to ill or injured workers and actively involved in accident investigation
• Maintain confidential medical records
• Liaise with government agencies, service providers, health care professionals management, and employees to ensure optimal recovery, regulatory compliance and an Early and Safe Return to work
• Provide regular reports and analyze trends as they pertain to disability
• Facilitate and deliver health, wellness and safety education to individuals and groups
• Act as a resource to Management, Joint Health and Safety, and Ergonomic Consultants
• Assist in the development of Health and Safety policies
• Coordinate health surveillance programs including pre-placement health evaluations
